Numerical Hydrodynamics. Software for Propulsors
Program package PUF-3A.
The main hydrodynamic programs are developed in Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of Texas at Austin. In collaboration with CEHIPAR within a Consortium on high-speed propellers.
Applications
- Hydrodynamic analysis of propellers.
- Auxiliary tool for design of propellers.
- Calculation of steady and unsteady (6 components) forces and efficiency.
- Pressure distribution calculation on both sides of propeller blades.
- Sheet cavity forms prediction.
- Prediction of pressure fluctuations on the stern of the ship.
The package comprises the following principle programs:
- MPUF-3A. Validated lifting-surface code for forces and cavitation prediction.
- PROPCAV. Panel (boundary element) method for forces and cavitation prediction.
- HULLFPP. Pressure fluctuations on the stern of the hull due to the propeller.
- GBFLOW. Effective wake prediction, including complex propulsors such as ducted-propellers and pods.
- PROPRE. Preprocessor of propulsor geometry, wake and parametric data.
- PROPOS. Postprocessor for numerical and graphical output.
