BAJEL project. Experimental validation of CFD codes for ship hulls

Objectives

Experimentally validate various CFD codes for the flow around ship hulls, thus contributing to the computational fluid dynamics application to ships. Two new codes developed by CIMNE (Barcelona) and ETSIN (Madrid) together with the SHIPFLOW (Flowtech, Sweeden), DAWSON and RAPID (MARIN, Holland) commercial codes have been used in the analysis. The hulls chosen were tested simultaneously in CEHIPAR and ETSIN, after which the calculations were compared and contrasted. Conclusions were drawn on code applicability.
